3. Aalborg International Guitar Competition.
Prices for more than 2000 €.


Category I for Classical Guitar Solo:
University or Conservatory students and professionals who have reached the maximum age of 35 by the start of the competition, may take part. 
Round One: : 19.03.2020

Round Two, semifinal round: 21.03.2020
 Grand Finale : 21.03.2020

  • Participant fee Category I: 1200,00 kr./around 160 €.

  • Included in the participation fee are free entrance to all concerts, free accommodation (can be with a host family arranged by us) from 18.03.2020 - 33.03.2020. In addition to this, we offer free meals consisting of breakfast, lunch and dinner on March 21st, as well as breakfast and lunch on March 22nd. Meals are served at the Skipper Clement School where the festival has its base of operations. 

  • Participants who do not reach the final will receive an offer of one hour free master class on 21.03.2020 or 22.03.2020. The curriculum is being prepared on 20.03.2020.

Category II for classical guitar solo:
Finale : 29.03.2019 - 17.00 - 18.00. 
Only amateurs between 13 and 17 years of age may take part.
Participant fee: 100,00kr/around 14 €
Participant fee with Talentclass Weekend: kr. 700,-

CATEGORIES:

Category I for classical guitar solo:
University or Conservatory students and professionals who have reached the maximum age of 35 by the start of the competition, may take part. 

Playing time starts as soon as the participant has taken her/his seat. 

All pieces must be performed by memory

The participant will face disqualification if he or she does not comply with the regulations. 

Round One - First round: 19.03.2020

1. Maximal playing time,12 minutes. 

Repertoire:

2. The repertoire being performed must include at least two

     historical periods and it is mandatory that every participant

     perform 1 (one) composition taken from the list of composers

    that the organizers of the competition have provided (see list below). 

3.. Depending on the number competitors, the competition organizers reserve the right to put up an extra day within a week’s notice. 

Round Two, semifinal round: 20.03.2020

(8 participants will be selected for the semi-finals)

1. Playing time this round is 18-20 minutes minimum/maximum. 

Repertoire:

2. Compositions performed in Round One may not be repeated

    in Round Two.

3. The repertoire being performed must include at least two

     historical periods and it is mandatory that every participant

     perform 1 (one) composition taken from the list of composers

    that the organizers of the competition have provided (see list below).  

 

Round Tree, Grand Final round: 21.03.2020

(4-5 participants will be selected for the final round)

1. Playing time this round is 20-25 minutes minimum/maximum.

Repertoire:

2. Compositions performed in Round One and Two may be repeated

    in the final round.

3. The repertoire being performed must include at least two

     historical periods otherwise the repertoire is free. 


PRIZES:
Category 1, first prize:

  • In Cash € 500,- and 3 concerts in 2021.

Category II for classical guitar solo:
Only amateurs between 13 and 17 years of age may take part.

Only completed with at least 5 registered participants.
One Round Only: Date: 19.03.2020. 
1. Maximal playing time, 8 minutes.
2. Playing time starts as soon as the participant has taken his or her seat.
3. Free choice of repertoire.
4. The participant are allowed to perform the music palyed by sheed music. 

 

PRIZES

Category II:

First prize:

€ 100,- in cash and free participation in the 2021 edition of the masterclass held at Aalborg International Guitarfestival or free participation in the 2021 Aalborg International Guitarfestival Competition. Diploma and some guitar accessories.


Second prize:
Refund of participation fee and a diploma.


Category 2: All participators will receive a diploma, if they take part in the talent seminar or the masterclass and are present at the Participators concert on the 22th of march 2020.

2020 AALBORG INTERNATIONAL GUITAR FESTIVAL AND COMPETITION REGULATIONS

GENERAL RULES FOR ALL CATEGORIES
Every participant taking active part declares to accept: 
a. The regulations of this competition.
b. The decision(s) of the jury.
c. The general rules of the competition. 

1. The competition is organized by the ”Aalborg International Guitar Festival & Competition” and is open to classical guitarists of all countries.
2. The decision(s) of the jury is final. The system of judging is an internal system and is not open to public discussion. 
3. The deadline for all applications is March 1th, 2020.
4. Applications will not be accepted until the registration fee has been received.
5. Only 50% of the registration fee will be refunded if a participant decides to cancel his or her active part in the competition. The cancelation deadline is February 15th, 2020.
6. If a participant cancels his or her participation in the competition after the 15th of February  2020, no registration fee will be refunded.
7. The organizers of the competition have the prerogative to refuse an application. 
8. Each competitor is obliged to announce the compositions he or she will be performing.
9. First prize winners at the Aalborg International Guitarfestival & Competition in Categories One, may not sign up again for the same category at the next competition.
10. The organizers of the competition have the right to regulate the number of participating guitarists in each category. 
11. The competition is open to the public. 
12. If a participant is not present in due time, he or she will be excluded from further participation in the competition without remittance of the entrance fee.
13. The jury has the prerogative to interrupt any player that exceeds the time limit specified in Categories One and Two.


SPECIAL RULES 
Category I:
- Minimum 8 participants in Round One will be selected by the jury to take part in the Semi-finals round.

4 - 5 participants will be accepted in the final round.   
- The sequence of performance will be selected the evening before Round One commences by drawing lots. At the conclusion of Round One, lots will again be drawn for Semi-finals and then again for the Final round. 
- For the audience prize in Category One, each attending member of the audience, who is present at the final round, is allowed only one vote. 
- Participants must bring 2 copies of the pieces they will perform in both rounds. The compositions a participant wants to perform must be put in a sealed envelope with the participants name on it. The order of the pieces that are to be played must also be written on the envelope. This envelope must be handed over to the organizers of the competition between 18.00 and 19.00 o’clock on the 18.03.2020 at the evenings concert venue or between 9.00 and 10.00 o’clock on the 19.03.2020 at the location of the first round.  Please note: Scanned documents by e-mail will NOT be accepted.


Category II:
There is only one round. The sequence of performance will be selected by drawing lots the evening before the competition commences – and sent by email or sms to the participaters. 

RECORDINGS AND BROADCASTS
The Aalborg International Guitarfestival & Competition is entitled to make photo, audio and visual recordings of the competition and arrange broadcasts and distribute these recordings and photos without any remuneration to the performers concerned.

All problems and/or situations not covered by the above regulations, will be decided by the organizers of the competition.
